General introduction to C++
Introduction to C++
C++ is a powerful, general-purpose programming language used to develop a wide range of software applications. It is widely used in systems programming, game development, embedded systems, desktop applications, and high-performance computing.
C++ is known for its speed, efficiency, and flexibility. It supports multiple programming paradigms, including procedural programming, object-oriented programming (OOP), and generic programming. Because of these capabilities, C++ remains one of the most important programming languages in modern software development.

History of C++
C++ was developed by Bjarne Stroustrup at Bell Laboratories in the early 1980s. The language was created as an extension of the C programming language with additional features that support object-oriented programming.
The development of C++ followed several important stages:
- 1979 – Bjarne Stroustrup began working on a language called C with Classes to improve the C language by adding object-oriented features.
- 1983 – The language was renamed C++, where "++" comes from the C increment operator, meaning improvement or advancement of C.
- 1985 – The first commercial release of C++ and the first edition of the book The C++ Programming Language were published.
- 1998 – The first international standard of C++ (C++98) was established.
- Later versions such as C++11, C++14, C++17, and C++20 introduced modern features that improved performance, safety, and usability.
Today, C++ is maintained by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and continues to evolve as a modern programming language.
